My name is Thomas Reed, and this is my personal Mac security site.
The goal of this blog will be to collate and summarize information on Mac malware, and other Mac-related security stories. This information will be gathered from various breaking news and research stories, with links to the original material. (If those links should ever go bad, let me know. I’m also keeping PDFs of the original linked-to articles, so I can upload and link to the PDF instead if necessary.)
The goal is for this to be as timely as possible, though of course it’s a personal project that I don’t get paid for, so please forgive me if I’m sometimes late to the party.
If you see something interesting, send it my way! You can find a variety of ways to contact me at the Contact link in the sidebar on the left.
Why “White Hat Mac?”
In hacker circles, a “black hat” hacker is a bad guy, while a “white hat” hacker is someone who uses their skills to do good. Since I’m a Mac guy who works on protecting folks against the bad guys, and the blog is about Macs, and I wear a hat, it kind of all fits. 😁
